At the moment, 'oxford' overrides your \renewcommand. At first, remove the 'oxford' option. But be aware: There is a known problem with double periods, you will get 'Copi, Irving M..' There is no solution for this problem except reversing author names. This double period is one of the major problems left untouched, because jurabib has to be rewritten completely, like TeX in the 70s. HTH, Jens -- Please remember -- this is an international english speaking mailing list! If you have a problem, please provide a complete minimal example document (with a small bibliography database), which runs out of he box without any superfluous packages loaded, otherwise we could not help.
