Well, there is actually no enemy there. The way it was implemented relied on a 
Dutch theologian who now lives in Germany, so Oxford wasn´t involved at all.

When I needed this, I simply left the publisher field blank. That should produce 
the behaviour you want.

I don´t know whether this is possible with Oxford. It was with normal jurabib.
bst. Apart from this, it is normally considered a bad habit, and, as far as I 
know, far from a default Cambridge practise. So just start a good habit and 
write first names according to the way they are mentioned on the title page of 
the book you refer to. :-)

This is possible, just have a book type with both author and editor.

As far as I know, this also depends on common practice. Some have editors before 
titles, others after the title. Do you know of a standard style handbook for 
either Oxford or Cambridge? I´v looked for it, but didn´t find it.

We have changed the behaviour of Bibtex. We have reserved 'volume' for the 
volume number of a multiple volume work. We use series combined with number to 
do what you want. So put the number in the series in number instead of volume. 
We have an additional 'volumetitle' to put a separate volumetitle into.

I think these things are possible already. Just have a look at your .bbl file 
after you ran bibtex. It contains all the variables!

Probably. Seriously: are your supervisors that strict? They should bettert write 
excellent books rather than check whether you obey their bad habits in citation 
matters. Id be glad that I didn´t write my dissertation at Cambridge. :-)
