I am trying to learn how to use bibtopic.sty with jurabib by running
jbtestbt.tex. I keep getting error messages that say either:

This is BibTeX, Version 0.99c (Web2C 7.4.5)
The top-level auxiliary file: jbtestbt.aux
I found no \bibdata command---while reading file jbtestbt.aux
I found no \bibstyle command---while reading file jbtestbt.aux
(There were 2 error messages)

or

I'm using the TeXShop front end for teTeX on Mac OS X, which I
understand can be tricky with bibtopic. Any tips would be appreciated.
