hey,
I'm also writing a big history memoir in French. Here is my jurabib
setup---hopefully, that should yield pretty much what you need. Some of
the redefinitions may be unnecessary, but being in some kind of rush,
too, I can't dig into it right now to make it prettier.
I totally agree on the usage of bibtopic, especially since you've
already got several files.
Feel free to ask if anything's still wrong.
