\edbyname and "\transbyname"?

I'm using the "oxford" option in jurabib, with jox.bst. My
department's style guide
requires that, when citing an editor or translator of a volume or
article, the name
should appear after the title. I have accomplished this using the
"titleaddon" field
with great success. However, I need to figure out how to change
\edbyname so that
it reads simply "ed." instead of "edited by". For example:

@INCOLLECTION{gy:1984,
AUTHOR		=	"Gy, Pierre-Marie",
TITLE =	"La Bible dans la liturgie au moyen {\^{a}}ge",
SHORTTITLE	=	"La Bible dans la liturgie",
BOOKTITLE	=	"Le Moyen \^{A}ge et la Bible",
TITLEADDON    =     "\edbyname P. Rich{\'{e}} and G. Lobrichon",
SERIES =	"Bible de tous les Temps",
NUMBER		=	4,
ADDRESS		=	"Paris",
PUBLISHER	=	"Beauschesne",
YEAR			=	"1984",
PAGES		=	"537--52"}

Using \footcite, I hope this would yield,

P.-M. Gy, `La Bible dans la liturgie au moyen {\^{a}}ge', in:
\emph{Le Moyen {\^{A}}ge
et la Bible}, ed.~P. Rich{\'{e}} and G. Lobrichon, Bible de tous les
Temps 4 (Paris:
Beauschesne, 1984), pp.~537--52.

I would like the same to apply to the bibliography entries. I think
I basically need to
know how to redefine that command correctly so that it works
(attempts so far have
failed).

I would like to do the same with translators, so that instead of
"translated by", it
would say "tr." only. Is there a comparable text-insertion command
called
"\transbyname" or something like that?

Thanks,

Jesse Billett
