Hi,
wondering if somebody might be able to give me a bit of help getting
jurabib to work with lyx - or even to tell me if what I want to do is
possible. There's some quite old discussion on this group, but it
didn't really help. Web searching indicates that what I want to do
should be possible, but doesn't indicate how.
I'm using jurabib 0.6 and lyx 1.4.1, which says that it supports
jurabib. I'm also using Pybliographer to create my bibliography.
All my citations are supposed to be in footnotes, something that
jurabib supports. Also I use long citations like: Author, Title (Year)
for books. I realise that this isn't quite the format that jurabib
uses by default, but let's leave that aside for the moment, as I'd
like to sort out actually inserting a correct footnote, before I worry
about the exact formatting.
Anyway, I've inserted a bibliography into my LyX document with the
style set to jurabib and also set the citation style in document
settings to jurabib.
The problem is that when I insert a citation into my footnote, I'm
only getting the author's name. I can manually change this to Author
Year, or variations on that, but nothing close to what I need.
Also, for repeated citations, I know that jurabib supports ibid and
cross references to previous notes. If I insert a repeated citation, I
just get the author's name repeated again. It looks like jurabib might
not be being used properly (or at all?).
So, my question is how do I get LyX and jurabib to work together
properly so that I can use full citations in my footnotes? Is this
even possible at the moment - I did find vague reference that LyX
might not properly support /footcite. However, I assumed that it
should work, given that jurabib support was announced as a feature in
LyX 1.4.0.
So if anybody could help I'd be extremely grateful - I left endnote on
windows a while ago to work in linux and have had to do all my
citation manually. This seems to represent a way to make things easier
again, but the configuration at this point is beyond me (I've read the
jurabib documentation and lyx helpfiles and a long doc on Bibtex).
Thanks in advance (sorrry for the long message),
Jacob Campbell.
