Holger,
Thanks-- I had initially tried the jurabib and jox styles in the real
(rather complex) document, and gave up because they were producing
other errors. jurabib does of course work with the simplified example
I gave, and I eventually got it working with the original document.
I'm not sure if anyone's still maintaining it or not, but jox.bst has
a number of problems. The two easiest to identify were (these apply
to jox.bst only):
- InCollection entries still generate the \incollinname command in
the .bbl file, despite
the comment in the 0.61 change log; a simple "\def
\incollinname{\bibBTsep}" at the top of the document fixes this.
- The author name rewriting algorithm has serious difficulties with
names specified with double braces. For example, a BibTeX entry with
the property definition
author = {{United States Bureau of the Census}},
generates a .bbl entry that begins
\bibitem[{{U}ited States Bureau of the Census}\jbdy {2006}}%
(notice the missing 'n' and the unmatched trailing '}')
However, even after working around these problems a document built
with the jox style still can't resolve any references, at least in my
LaTeX installation. I'm using jurabib for now, which I think I've
configured adequately close to the Oxford style. I've
got some ideas for new options, but any deeper hacking is going to
have to wait until I've finished this article. ;-)
Thanks again for your help,
Brent
