I needed to update my version of context.

Pablo, using placeinitial is what I had been using, but I would like to
modify the metapost graphic eventually with embellishments. I'll look into
starteffect as well.

Wolfgang, using top=\vss seems to put the graphic lower than I expect it to
be. If I remove that, it works perfectly.
