Thank you Hraban, Taco and Wolfgang. To be honest, I liked
Wolfgang's solution the most.

> [section]
> [after=\setup{list:subsection}]

> \startnarrow[left=6em,right=1em][left,right]
> \placelist[subsection][alternative=d,headnumber=no]
> \stopnarrow
> \stopsetups
Beside \startnarrow, it allows me to use \startalignment as
well. I still need to tweak the vertical distances/margins though;
but I'm optimistic about it.
