Re: Bibliography: 2 works by same author

Hmm, something strange is happening, then, JP, with my text. This is 
what I have in the preamble (leaving aside your 'shorthand' btx 
defnition, which is not relevant here)

And in the main text, I have a real example, based on two works by 
Rogers. Here are the entries in the references.bib file

But when I put, for example,

I get (Rogers, 1951; Rogers 1961) as you can also see from the attached 
screenshot.

I took your MWE and replaced it with my Rogers examples in the buffer 
and elsewhere (leaving Jacobi in there as well) and got your correct 
results. That would seem to be telling me that I have something in my 
tex file that is interfering with things, but I cannot work out what it 
is, for the moment. It will turn out to be something very simple, I am 
sure, some misstep on my part. I have checked each of the various 
citations I have... and they are all producing the correct result, with 
the exception of the Rogers case (and one other author whose two works 
are being referenced together). And I was feeling quite pleased with 
myself, even managing a

\cite

[alternative=shorthand,

righttext={{1, q. 29, a. 1}}]

[main::aquinas1981summa]

with no problems.

Now see a second issue as I complete Chapter 2. In order to get a 
chapter-level bibliography, I use:

\placebtxrendering

[chapterlist]

[method=local]

For Chapter 1 that produced the correct set of local references. But 
placing it again at the end of Chapter 2 produced no result. Again, 
something is interfering, I feel. The finallist bibliography appears, 
and contains references found in Chapter 2, but the chapter-level one is 
not appearing.

Because of our time difference I will do some more fiddling with all 
this today and see if I can discover what I am doing wrong, in which 
case I'll let you know immediately. I will try a stripped back version 
of my file, testing everything as I go... that can often help identify 
the issue.

I do a lot of typesetting for a local publisher, but this the first time 
I have needed to typeset a 400 page academic thesis in APA style. It's 
the difference between swimming in the local pool and surfing the ocean 
breakers!

I don't think the LMTX version is the issue here. I have a 2025 version 
which I use most of the time, but I also have the latest (prior to 
yesterday's update), and I ran both of them just to check. No difference.
