We are happy to announce the moderncv release v2.6.1 as a new patch release 
including the following bug fixes:
- mitigation of issues with the use of fontawesome short notation \fa<x>, which 
lead to compilation failures with LuaLaTeX/XeLaTeX (now using \faIcon{<x>} 
notation, see 
https://github.com/moderncv/moderncv/issues/296)
- documentation corrections for default style options
- explicit setting of style options
