So, as far as I can tell, the imagemagic convert.exe is first. Also, 
calling convert.exe manually seems to call the correct program:

Copyright: Copyright (C) 1999-2007 ImageMagick Studio LLC

Usage: convert [options ...] file [ [options ...] file ...] [options

So, I believe your hint does not apply in my case.
