PNG into prospers slides

Probably because you used the wrong software.  Under Unix, you should use
Gimp or ImageMagick's convert.  They both should produce good result
(unless your pngs are tiny and you try to enlarge them later).

P.S.  Yes, you do have to convert them to eps.
