There is a parameter in hyperref that controls the page duration:

\newcommand{\pageDuration}[1]{\hypersetup{pdfpageduration={#1}}}
\newcommand{\stopAdvancing}{\pageDuration{}}

then you can use 

\pageDuration{0.5} % I think is in seconds

and stop with \stopAdvancing.

The second step is to change the acroread definitions. Due to some bug
in the code you need to change in fullscreen mode: activate Advance
Every: and put (in linux) a value like 1000 or check what is the limit.
For windows I think that the limit is 59.
