color items in prosper?

I am having difficulty with color in Prosper.
Basically I can put color anywhere on my slide,
*except* for an item in a list.

Consider the following simple example:

\bi
\item {\color{red}{Some text}}
\item S{\color{red}{ome text}}
\ei

The first shows up black, the second shows up as a
black S and the rest of the line is red. I would have
expected the first word to show up in red.

This problem seems related to the one Magnus Therning
posted recently. Are there any known workarounds? I
find it hard to believe that I am the first person to
want to put color in my bullet lists...
