changing font size and line spacing

Hello all,
When I use a font size changing command in slides, the
line spacing does not seem to change proportionately
(see attached example). Is this a feature or a bug?
I am currently using \fontsize{size}{skip} to get the
effect I want. Just thought I'd get your feedback about
whether this is the only thing to do.
