Dear Charles

If understand your problem, you want the figure to have a white
background, is this right?

If so, use the suggestion of Hendri, and put like this

\psframe*[fillcolor=white]{\includegraphics[parameters]{figure}}

Note that all the text that is under the figure will disappear whether
you use a opaque figure or Hendri's solution.
