Hi Mathieu, I tried to replace xcolor on my machine, but I'm not sure if I really succeeded. I downloaded what I think is the most recent version and moved it to: /usr/local/teTeX/share/texmf.tetex/tex/latex/ I renamed the directory that was already there xcolor-old Same problem as far as I can tell. I then moved the two xcolor directories (the new version xcolor and the old version xcolor-old) out of /usr/local/teTeX/share/texmf.tetex/tex/latex/ (put them on the desktop) and had the same problem. I found one other file called xxcolor.sty in /usr/local/teTeX/share/texmf.tetex/tex/latex/dfg and I moved that one to the Desktop also. Same response. It seems that it is failing before it even tries to access xcolor, unless it is finding the versions that I moved because my Desktop is in the LaTex path. I can move them off the system completely. How can you tell that there is a problem in xcolor?
