Nice. Unfortunately I can't seem to get your overlay example working. 

Here's my code

It only ever displays the first bullet, it doesn't cycle through them. I'm
using xpdf on Linux, and it works fine on your pdf. 

I'm also having a problem getting minipages to permit me to put text beside an
image.
