That shouldn't happen. If an update fail, it does try to revert to the
previous installed version from a backup made before update is started.

Of course, if the restore also failed, then all is lost.
I have **no** idea why that completely failed, since the log doesn't
show the errors that probably were shown on the console.

It is also hard to guess **why** the restore failed. It seems that tlmgr
was able to **remove** the old files, but did not manage to install the
new ones.

I am not sure what more could be done here ...

Yes, that is historically, since the perl version on Windows is horribly
slow and we use Akira's binary, but it has different options.

Someone would need to look into unifying this, I am sure that Akira does
not mind adjusting the code.
