Meanwhile, why don't you try (Linux, Mac, Windows) TeXworks. I know 
TeXLive for Windows comes with TeXworks as a front-end.

I haven't used it much, because I prefer Emacs with AUCTeX, but the 
latter has a steep learning curve. I can tell you that TeXworks works 
very well on Linux (I use Linux Mint 22.2 as you do).

It is on  the repositories, but I prefer the disk image:
