Re: Unexpected huge update. Please confirm it is expected.

I'm sorry for not warning people about the huge update due simply to
Catalogue fixes, as Max listed. It was expected.

Background: we used to make all Catalogue-only changes only at the
yearly release.  But several years ago, we changed things to no longer
regenerate all packages for the yearly release, to make year-to-year
upgrades better for users and distros.  So there is no obvious time at
which to make them. I've arbitrarily chosen to pull them on the 8th and
24th of each month.  (Doing it daily would lead to unnecessary churn
when there are repeated changes over several days, which is not
uncommon.)  There was also a big update on the 8th this month (over 100
packages), for the same reason.

BTW, the 400+ packages is less than 10% of the total number of packages
in TL, currently about 5000 including arch-specific binary packages. (I
didn't try to compute the size.)

I expect to do another round of Catalogue updates with CTAN in coming
weeks, hopefully considerably smaller than this one. If the updates seem
excessive, I'll try to spread it out and/or announce it this time.
