Hello,

I have been a TeX user for nearly forty years.

With TeXLive 2026 I have met a new hyperlink problem.

In the pdf, multipage index entries, those generated with
\index{something|(}  \index{something|)},
hyperlink to page 1 of the document,
irrespective of the actual page numbers.

The hyperlink frame embraces both page numbers.
Earlier, there used to be two distinct frames for the
two numbers.

In the log file there is a corresponding list
of warnings of this kind:

pdfTeX warning (dest): name{page.284--287}
has been referenced but does not exist, replaced by a fixed one

Until last year the pdf index worked fine.

Actually, there is also a much older bug:
although I load

\usepackage{tocbibind}

the index entry in the table of contents
hyperlinks to the bibliography, not to
the index.

Are there workarounds, other than reverting to
an older TeXLive?

Happy TeXing,
