macOS 26 (released mid-September last year) runs on both Intel and ARM. On ARM, it provides Rosetta 2 which allows Intel apps to run.

macOS 27 (to be released in late Summer or Autumn this year) only runs on ARM. It still provides Rosetta 2, allowing Intel apps to run.

macOS 28 (to be released late next year) will only run on ARM, and it will no longer provide Rosetta 2. So there will be no way to run Intel apps on it.

Apps that I have that are Intel-only, running presently on macOS 27 through Rosetta:

	TeXworks
	CocoAspell

	FontForge
	ManOpen
	X2Go

	Engauge Digitizer

FontForge already exists in a beta ARM version. For TeXworks I imagine there will be one at some point. For the other apps, I'm rather pessimistic, as their developers seem to have vanished into thin air.

As for MacTeX, all the GUI apps (TeXShop, TeX Live Utility, hintview, BibTeX, LaTeXiT) and all the command-line binaries (tex and friends, gs, mutool, gpg, lz4, xz) that it installs are universal binaries.
