I removed ~/.texlive2008 to try to troubleshoot this and when doing so my  
TL2008 MetaPost (1.005) runs just fine. This file is /usr/bin/mpost  
However, the newly compiled MetaPost (now 1.110 with SVG support) is  
/usr/local/bin/mpost Do I need something from 1.101 or mplib 1.110 other  
than the built mpost executable.
