Thank you. This seems to have solved the problem, although now old files do
not show links. But I can probably live with this.

To get rid of the errors about ps-specials change in YAP (menu view) to the
dvips render method. You can set it permanantly in the options.

To get links to jump in the dvi use the hypertex driver:

\usepackage[hypertex]{hyperref}

(remove it before making the final pdf).
