I'll try to be of tiny help in pushing this forward:

I think it will be beneficial for your odds of getting an answer if
you are more specific about
a)what exactly 'running' implies - presumably, judging from subject
line and context, you have a file (demo.tex) opened in WinEdt editor,
and then try texifying it. What options, if any, are used? What
happens if you just latex it from a cmd.exe session, and just YAP the
resulting .dvi (assuming it latex'es ok)?
b)the contents of 'demo.tex' may or may not be obvious - try to
create a small example that stumbles upon the same difficulty, and
share with the list readers.

I myself am too much of a novice to jump at any guns from the wording
of your error message, but since I recently had the good fortune of
receiving help on this list, at least I can contribute my 2c towards
progress on your issue.

Cheers,
Hans Marius
