anew: Windows API error 1113

Dear all: since I made an MiKTeX update (admin) earlier today and even without having made any changes to my files, none of my projects are functioning any more (some days ago, the results were wonderful): *Latex *and *pdfLatex *always are interrupted very early during their run and I receive an error-message "Windows API error 1113..." - that I never received earlier... Any idea how I can revive my system??? (Win7ultimate, MiKTeX2.9.4146, TeXnicCenter alpha) Thanks a lot in advance.
