It could be xdvipdfmx (e.g. if you use the 64bit version which I don't), but it could also be e.g. a virus program or something else: If you run xetex --output-driver="xdvipdfmx -vv" file you can see that tons of external temporary files are processed. And a lot of things can interfere there. I personnally don't care much about pstricks on XeTeX. As soon as the graphics get a bit more complex tt is so slow that it is not really useful.
