[Miktex] How to make the figure span the whole page width in a 2 columns article.

Hi,

I am writting an IEEETrans article which presents a 2-column format. But I
have a large figure that I want to make it span for the whole page. That is,
I want to temporarily ignore the multi cols environment. How can I do it?
