Hi: I updated MikTeX to miktex 2.9.4352 (20111201) on Windows 7-64 with Update (Admin). Normally this goes smoothly and routinely (never had problems before) but this time, I forgot to temporarily disable the firewall (Output Firewall Pro 7.5) and fumbled on the keyboard in giving manual permissions to the update manager. The results: all the packages seemed to be updated but the last step regarding mpm failed (see the attached log file) mpm --register-components --verbose --admin: mpm.exe: Windows API error 5: Access is denied. mpm.exe: Data: regsvr32.exe configuring fontconfig\config\fonts.conf registering C:\Program Files (x86)\MiKTeX 2.9\miktex/bin\MiKTeX209-core.dll Error: The operation failed for some reason. I tried to rerun the update manager (admin) but it said that no new packages found so it won't run again. My questions are: Is there a way to undo or rerun the update (admin) so I can get the mpm thing fixed? Or it doesn't matter much and I can just leave the MikTeX system as is? Or should I run setup-2.9.4321.exe and re-install the whole MikTeX system (reluctantly)? Or should I get the newest update miktex 2.9.4360 (20111209) and hope that everything will fix by itself? Advice is much appreciated. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Learn Windows Azure Live!
