Hello,

 

I?m having a problem with MikTex when creating DVI files.  I receive the
error below when using Yap to view the output.  I originally contacted
WinEdt because I thought it was a problem with their app.  As it turns out
it MikTex.  Has anyone seen this error before?  Thank you!

I'm running MikTex 2.9 within WinEdt, so it's possible that is a factor.

When I use $\hat{\alpha}$, I get a console output that show:

! Missing $ inserted.
<inserted text> 
                $
l.22 ...   $\hat{\alpha}
                                                  $ ? 

Process has been terminated ...


When I use $\hat{\beta}$ or any other greek alphabetical symbol, I get the
proper expected result.  Only alpha seems to cause this result.

I am running MikTex 2.8 and WinEdt 5 and, as I wrote, it works fine.

$\hat{\alpha}$ works well with MiKTeX 2.9 and WinEdt 6.0.   Phoney $
originates from some other issue. Look elsewhere.
