Re: updating a font

What is the problem you are trying to solve?  What OS and MiKTeX versions
do you have?  Can you provide a minimal example that demonstrates the
problem?

The MiKTeX updater is supposed to ensure that you have the current versions
of packages, so normally there should be no need to delete and reinstall
individual files.

The Latin Modern Type1 fonts (as well as opentype versions) are in the
MiKTeX lm package,   The file 'lm-hist.txt' (unfortunately using unix
newlines, so messy to view in notepad) lists the version of the fonts.
The last two entries in my MiKTeX 2.9 lm package (packaged 2009-11-06) are:

Ver. 2.004, 30.10.2009:
* a bug in *lssq.fd files corrected (thanks to Heiko Oberdiek);
  fonts were not touched, only the time stamp changed

Ver. 2.004, 07.10.2009:
* malformed `Euro' sign in oblique fonts corrected (thanks to
  G\"unter Spahlinger)
* LaTeX *.fd files improved (better substitutions for unavailable
  variants)

TeX Live 2012 has the same version.
