Re: eps figure is not properly rendered in the pdf-presentation

Such problems can occur when the fonts used to render the eps figure
directly are replaced by other fonts in the embedded version.   See: Paul
Murrell and Brian Ripley (2006) Non-standard fonts in PostScript and PDF

outline paths to create "font-free" eps files.  Another approach is to redo
the figures using the same fonts that TeX uses.
