I think it's because amslatex was removed (obsolete, amscls, amsmath 
replace it).

Solution: run MiKTeX Package Manager (Admin), select amscls, 
amslatex-primer and amsmath and click on +, then click on Proceed.

After that, maybe you must run MiKTeX Settings (Admin) and Refresh FNDB.
