PDFTeX seems flawed (lasta update 4791 - 2/12/2013)

Greetings,

I've just updated my local installation of MikTeX but found problems
when compiling files
that ran flawlessly prior to updating!

The symptoms:

1) Both packages harvard and ltxbase are fetched on-fly despite they are
already installed and updated.

2) It claims that no bounding box is present on PNG images I include via
graphicx (loaded by tikz)

Initially (first two or three attempts) this occured every time I run
texify --PDF... Then, symptom 1 didn't happen anymore.

I've tried both texify and pdflatex, with same issues. Since I use
Windows 7, I tried using console first without admin privileges followed
by enabled admin privileges (symp 1 cease to happen when using admin)

Using luaLatex raises no errors!

Also, I tried to re-synchronize the package repository. Again, no success.

Is this some bug with the latest binaries? Should I try reinstall?

Best wishes,

Rui Moutinho
