Edgar,

I had the same problem for some time.....and found the following helpful:
http://comments.gmane.org/gmane.editors.winedt/6176

=====

When WinEdt opens the following file, "Acrobat OpenDoc.edt", in
response to the error and highlights in red line 106:

Change line 106 from:
  DDEOpen('%$("AcroRead")',"acroview","control",0);

To:
  DDEOpen('%$("AcroRead")',"acroviewR11","control",0);

Save the file.

If you are running Adobe Reader 10.0, I suppose you can change line 106 to
  DDEOpen('%$("AcroRead")',"acroviewR10","control",0);

====

I am running WinEdt version 5, Build: 20070819  (v. 5.5) under Windows
XP, and using Adobe Reader 11.0

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Charley Bowman

Hope that
