Miktex on Mac under Parallels

I have just installed Parallels 9 (under Mavericks) and installed an old
copy of XP professional SP1. I have downloaded Miktex (basic Miktex 2.9) on
my desktop. When I double click to install it I get a message saying "The
procedure entry point DecodePointer could not be located in the dynamic
link library KERNEL32.dll". How can I solve this problem? I had the same
problem when I tried to install Miktex complete too.
