I'm Stymied

Hi:

I just installed MikTex 2.9 and TexnicCenter for windows-64 and when I try
to compile I get the following message: pdflatex> (Fatal format file error;
I'm stymied)

I tried re-building the pdflatex format file as I saw in a few blogs and I
also updated MikTex, but none of the later worked.

Can anyone help me with this, please?
