Hi,

on 2014-04-11 I installed the current MiKTeX 2.9 64-bit
(basic-miktex-2.9.5105-x64.exe). My operating system is Windows 7 Home
Premium 64 bit with SP 1.

I convert my dvi files via dvipdfm to pdf. Unfortunately, the pdf
quality of my documents is very poor because the pdf contains type 3
fonts. I know this is a common problem and I have already solved it
previously (many years ago, in times of MS-DOS). But with my previous
installation (basic-miktex-2.9.4521.exe) of August 2012 there were
none of these problems. Perhaps another important warning: When
running LaTeX, the system complains that some kanji.map file is
missing. I have no idea for what that could be necessary (I write in
German).

If you need more information please tell me.

Cheers, Olaf
