I have code in macro
\def\tempa{#1}
\def\tempb{...}
\ifx\tempa\tempb
...
\fi
Where value of tempb comes from different source (for instance \@nameuse). It is clear that ifx returns false even tempa and tempb expand to the same image. Is there other way to see if they produce the same image ?

\mathcal is not expandable. You can't use it in a \edef.
