Multiple hyphenation patterns

Hello,
I need to have several hyphenation patterns for the same language. Of 
course, It is possible to rebuild format file each time when the other 
pattern is needed. However, I hope that there should be purer way. For 
example, is it possible to create other Babel language, which is the 
exact copy of existing one, but with different name? If so, I could 
switch between these languages in order to use the proper hyphen pattern.
