ps2pdf working in DOS console, but not in MSYS console

Dear all,

I have MiKTeX 2.9 64bit installed on Windows7.

When I open a cmd.exe DOS console, and I type

   ps2pdf --help

then I get the usual output with exit status 0

When I open a bash MSYS console (with MSYS 64bit edition), and I type
the same command, then I get no output at all and exit status is 255.

So there is something in the MSYS environment preventing ps2pdf to work.

I checked with MSYS that Ghostscript is in the path (if I type:

   gswin64c --help

then I get the normal output), and I also added some export GS
environment variable pointing at gswin64c.exe, but this does not help.

I am at the end of my wits, any help is welcome...

   Vincent.
