Re: no .ps or .eps figure rendering after last update

Actually, I have a similar situation. I'm fortunate enough to have a few 
levels of redundancy for my compute environment, and in addition to the 
'archiving' approach I mentioned, I also always keep the MikTeX install 
on one of those machines 'one step behind' the update curve, as a failsafe.
