Here's something that may help.

Sometimes, MikTeX updates don't take.  It can be resolved by refreshing the FNDB (File Name Data Base).   Please try doing that, both as user and as admin if possible.

I can provide more details when I'm back at work.

We are going to need to see a log: could you run say a minimal file

\listfiles
\documentclass{article}
\usepackage{flafter}
\begin{document}
\end{document}

and post the log?
