Only a number worked (testutf8), number and a minus failed
(test-utf8), only a underscore worked (test_utf), underscore and
number failed (test_utf8), underscore and two numbers worked:
test_utf88.tex. 

I think the pattern is not special chars but the length of the file
name: All that fail seems to be exactly 9 chars long (e.g. test_demo
from Evan). 


(In the hope that I didn't mixed up the cases ...)
