Well so I suggest that you check the diagnose messages of winedt
(options->execution modes->diagnoris) if it finds the correct
binaries and if it reports problem. 

If it looks as if winedt blocks the on-the-fly (I can't test it now)
you should report it on the winedt mailing list.
