FWIW, I have had the same problem with a different program that I use as editor (Kedit) and I was able to write directly to the developer who has retired and is no longer actively supporting the program. He replied to me that he had specified his icon sizes in terms of pixels and on a hi-res display the result is that the icons are very small. Maybe there is some way to lower the resolution of the display. It means that either/both of Emacs or the some MiKTeX assets are not scaled for high resolution displays. It's slowly getting better with updates to various pieces of software (Windows 10 itself included) - though it's necessary here to determine if you're dealing with a bug in MiKTeX or Emacs. You might want to be a bit more forthcoming with information if you're after the problem being solved! I just quickly installed latest MiKTeX (2.9.6000) with Emacs 24.5.1 mingw32 compiled (the "official" zip from gnu.org) in a Windows 10 1511 x64 VirtualBox. I installed AUCTeX 11.89 (is that how you're linking Emacs and MiKTeX, or is there another way?). On my 4K display (3840x2160 scaled 250%), if I create a dummy LaTeX file in Emacs (I'm a Vim user, so understand that that really hurts...!), I get 5 toolbar buttons (Run LaTeX, Run Viewer, Run BibTeX, Spell check, Preview on/off) - the buttons are the same size as the other Emacs toolbar buttons and the icons, although clearly not designed for 4K displays, are the "correct" size. It seems that our MikTeX/AucTeX installations are identical, except that my emacs version is 25.0.94.2. My display is scaled 250%. My issues are the following: (a) the ten buttons (specify a new file name, read an existing file, ..., search forward) in the initial emacs window are too small; (b) the four icons (go to last folder visited, up one level, create new folder, view menu) in the "find file" window are much too small---they are tiny; and (c) after I open a .tex file, the fourteen buttons (specify a new files name, ..., spell check the document, preview on/off) in the emacs editor window are too small. By "too small", I mean that they are much smaller than they are on my older laptop (1600 x 900 resolution).
