After the answer of Mark saying all is ok in his installation, as I have a
new PC I began to install Miktex there and the test also works without
problems.
As the installation was 32-bit, I tried to reinstall the 32-bit version on
the old PC, but it still returns the same internal error.

And in the new PC installing 64-bit version also works without problems.

Now I think, the unique solution is to migrate all to the new PC, unless
some of the reader has a better suggestion.

Anyway, many thanks to all.

Here is the minimal program receiving the error

\documentclass[a4paper,12pt]{book}
\usepackage{pdfpages}
\begin{document}
\includepdf[pages=-]{Chap9}
\end{document}

I try to attach the Chap9.pdf (ca 300k) but I have no idea if it is allowed
by the list rules.
I have no problems with lots of other pdf files. I contacted the maintainer
of the package pdfpages and it has no problem running the test on unix.

Here the log by calling pdflatex inside winedt
