Which I guess is why people who just want something that actually works without needing a degree in computer science and unlimited free time to get it working buy packages like scientific word or tex writer!! The PDF is created but is not aligned correctly (the PDF is chopped off at the top and has white space at the bottom). So it seems to be suggesting a problem in a particular .sty file but that was just downloaded from CTAN so it seems odd ....
